Most fire blankets certified to the Australian Standard are rated for temperatures of 500-550°C and while useful for small-scale fires they are not intended for use fighting intense fires. Lithium Ion battery fires can burn at much higher temperatures – well above 500°C and the nature of Lithium Ion battery fires is generally considered to be intense.

Whilst not certified under Australian Standards and not intended to replace the requirement of certified fire blankets, these products are designed and certified under EN13501-1 to withstand service temperatures between 1100-1450°C and may be an effective tool to help contain and suppress an intense fire such as one involving a Lithium Ion battery.

Suitable for items such as portable electronic equipment, gardening and power tools, electric bikes (E-Bikes) and electric scooters (E-Scooters).
